The MISSION of CHMELA FLUENCY CONSULTING & TRAINING is to educate and empower clinicians to become confident and effective stuttering therapists utilizing motivational, simple, and practical methods of consulting and training.
Kristin A. Chmela, M.A. CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist and member of the initial cadre of Board Recognized Specialists in Fluency and Fluency Disorders, has dedicated her career for over twenty years to helping individuals with fluency disorders and the clinicians who serve them. She is an internationally recognized author, consultant, and lecturer who served as adjunct faculty at Northwestern University. She continues to provide service directly to fluency clients and serves as clinical supervisor for many universities across the country. She is founder and director of Central Speech and Language Clinic's Chmela Fluency Center and has served as leader and participant on the Task Force for Fluency Services in the Schools through the Special Interest Division 4 of the American Speech Language Hearing Association. In addition, she provides training and consultation at Centro Medico di Foniatria in Padova, Italy. Kristin approaches consulting and training with an extraordinary passion, based on her personal experiences of stuttering, for helping not only those who stutter but the clinicians who help them as well. |
